The gameplay of Ludo Star is simple and easy to learn. Here are the basic steps:
When able to, the players enter their pawns one per turn on their respective starting squares and proceed to race them clockwise around the board along the game track.
When reaching the square below their home column, a player continues by moving pawns up the column to the finishing square.
The first player to get all four pawns to the finish wins the game.There are some rules and features that make Ludo Star more interesting and challenging than the traditional Ludo game, such as:
A player must roll a 6 to enter a pawn into play from its starting square. A player who rolls a 6 can choose to enter a new pawn, move an active pawn, or move a pawn that has not moved yet.
A player can move their pawn 6 steps forward with another roll of 6. They also get another turn to roll the dice again. This can be repeated up to three times in a row.
If a player lands on a square occupied by an opponent's pawn, they capture that pawn and send it back to its starting square. The captured pawn must roll a 6 again to re-enter the board.
If a player lands on a square with a star, they can take a shortcut across the board. There are four stars on the board, one on each corner.
If a player lands on their own color square in the middle column, they get an extra turn to roll the dice.
If a player has two or more pawns on the same square, they form a block that cannot be captured or passed by any opponent.
A player must roll the exact number of steps required to move their pawn into the finishing square. If they roll more than needed, they must move their pawn backwards from the finishing square.
